After an operation, the eye is very sensitive and requires tender care. Lasik procedures are quite quick and the recovery period is not usually long. This, however, does not imply that the eye does not require keen post-operative care.
Immediately after the surgery, it is advisable to wear sunglasses to prevent the eye from the effects of bright light. If you do not have sunglasses you can use an eye patch which can also protect the eye from unintended scratching when sleeping.
In the days following the surgery, you should try not to use lotions and makeup especially close to the eye area. Also, avoid activities that may cause irritation such as sauna sessions, swimming, and other intensive physical activity. You can resume your normal activities after about a month.
Be sure to inform your doctor if you start to experience discomfort or prolonged pain after the Lasik procedure. You should also ensure that you follow the instructions issued to you after the surgery.
